CAFTAN 2015: A VINTAGE THAT VARYS FLAVORS

MORE ORIGINALITY FOR THIS 19TH EDITION
A GREAT EVENING ORGANIZED IN MARRAKECH ON APRIL 11
A GUEST SURPRISE IN THE PUBLIC, NICOLAS CAGE
The first parade is surely that of the guests.

The women in evening dress wander from their car at the cocktail party, from the photo call to the Palmeraie Resorts marquee, which houses the evening. An event in the event None dared the caftan. To avoid the fashion faux pas? Because this annual meeting, highly anticipated, announces the next trends that will of course follow. The icing on the cake, while everyone was waiting for the curtain, Nicolas Cage created the surprise by inviting the parade. Bearded and long-haired, the American actor is currently in Marrakech for the shooting of Larry Charles’ latest feature film, “Army of one”.

For this 19th edition, the creators have been able to inject some touches of originality to this so traditional garment. Some daring tempted by Salima El Boussouni, at the head of the house Caftan Skalli. Tails embroidered with feathers, printed tights, asymmetrical bustiers, the stylist pushes the search. To stick to the theme chosen this year, “Musically Yours”, she chose to take inspiration from the extravagant Samba, emblematic dance of Brazil.

Amina Boussayri has also jostled the tradition by drawing inspiration from her travels, especially from Andalusia. His models, with sober lines, surprise as his boleros inspired by the dress of lights, the costume of the bullfighters. If Khadija Elhoujouji opted for the only shades of green, Radia Harmouchi put the spotlight on its first two models, highlighted at the waist of an original tulle frilly. Others stood out thanks to accessories such as Meriem Belkhayat, who enhanced her outfits by crowning the models, or Nabila Chihab, the only one to have completed each model of a matching bag. As for the Lebanese Antoine Kareh, guest of honor this year, he closed the event with refined models, further removed from the cup of rigor of the caftan. Other undisputed stars, the paintings, punctuating the parades, offered by high-flying dancers, choreographed by Malika Zaidi.

The organizers of Caftan did well to entrust him for the second consecutive year the artistic direction of the show. It must be said that his curriculum vitae is brilliant. Zaidi has accompanied famous international artists such as Puff Daddy or Kanye West.
Creators, singers, dancers, all accompanied by music cleverly composed by Hamid Daoussi, made this 19th Caftan, a night without false note.
